This page explains what happens to the personal details you send us through this website. It is written in plain English on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ask us and we will explain it.

Who we are

This site is operated by Gilcrete Ltd T/A Driveway & Decking Co, trading as Driveway & Decking Co., of 23 Glatton Road, Sawtry, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire PE28 5SY. We are the data controller for the information described below. The person responsible for enquiries is John Gill.

What we collect, and when

We only collect personal details when you choose to send them. There is no account to create and nothing to sign up to.

• The quote form on this page. When you submit it we receive your name, email address, telephone number, the postcode of the project, the type of project you have selected, and whatever you write in the description box.
• Your IP address, briefly. The form endpoint uses the IP address of the submitting device, in memory only, to limit how many submissions can arrive from one source in a short window and to spot a double-click sending the same enquiry twice. It is not written to a database, is not included in the email we receive, and is discarded when the short window expires.
• Anything you send us directly. If you telephone, email or message us on WhatsApp, we will hold whatever you tell us in that conversation.

We do not ask for and do not want payment card details, bank details or any special category data (such as health information) through this website.

Cookies and tracking

Analytics only runs if you agree to it. When you first visit, a banner asks whether we may use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use this site, which pages are visited, and whether people tap the phone number or email address. Until you accept, none of that runs: Google Analytics is not loaded, no analytics cookie is set and no identifier is created on your device. If you decline, it stays off. Sending a quote request works the same either way. The full list of what is stored, and when, is on the cookies and tracking page, and you can change your answer at any time from the link in the footer.

Separately, we keep a plain tally of how many times each page is viewed and how many people accept or decline the choice above. It uses no cookie, stores nothing on your device and creates no identifier: your visit becomes part of a number and no record of it is kept. It is never shared with Google or anyone else.

If the spam protection widget is enabled on the form, Cloudflare Turnstile runs a bot check in your browser and receives the technical signals it needs to do that. It is not used by us to profile you.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To answer your enquiry and quote for your project. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, namely responding to someone who has asked us for a quote. Where you have plainly asked us to contact you about a specific job, we may also rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by telling us to stop.
• To take steps before entering a contract with you. If the enquiry turns into a job, we use your details to arrange the site visit and carry out the work.
• To keep the form usable. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in preventing spam and abuse of the enquiry form.

We do not use your details for marketing. Submitting the quote form does not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

Who your details are shared with

Your enquiry is sent to us as an email. To do that, this site uses the following service providers, who process the data on our instructions and nothing else:

• Resend, which delivers the enquiry email to our inbox.
• Vercel, which hosts this website and runs the code that handles the form.
• Cloudflare, where the spam-protection widget is enabled on the form.
• Our email provider, which holds the enquiry once it reaches our inbox.

Some of these providers operate infrastructure outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred abroad it is covered by the transfer safeguards those providers put in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Beyond that, we share your details with nobody, except where the law requires it of us.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become a job: kept for up to 12 months so we can pick the conversation back up if you come back to us, then deleted.
• Enquiries that become a job: kept for 6 years after the work is completed, which is the period during which a claim relating to the contract could still be brought, and which also covers our tax record-keeping obligations.
• The temporary anti-spam records: discarded automatically within minutes.
• Analytics data, if you accepted it: kept for 14 months in Google Analytics, then deleted automatically.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
• have inaccurate details corrected;
• ask us to delete your details, where we have no continuing reason to keep them;
• ask us to restrict what we do with them while a query is sorted out;
• object to our processing where we are relying on legitimate interests;
• ask for the details you gave us in a portable form, where processing is based on consent or a contract and is automated;
• withdraw your consent at any time, where we are relying on consent.

Exercising any of these is free and we will respond within one month. Just ask; you do not need to use any particular form of words.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and change the date at the top of it.
